Following his acquittal from Eskisehir Prison, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi was exiled to Kastamonu where he was kept under house arrest. This addendum covers the correspondence Bediuzzaman has with his students in Kastamonu, in which he shows great concern for the copying out of the Quranic lessons of Nur by hand using the Quranic script. The central theme is on the duty of its sincere dissemination at a time when all religious works are deemed illegal.
The letters of the Kastamonu Addendum deal with matters such as the nature and value of the Risale-i Nur, how it undertakes the sacred duty of upholding iman and how it is the recipient of divine favours. It further deals with the method of service the Quran students should follow, the steadfastness and firmness required against the ongoing attacks of the atheists, and the sincere actions that are expected of the people of Islam in their relations with one another.
With regard to the time in which it was written and for being the product of an era of great significance, the Kastamonu addendum letters are extremely valuable. They teach readers to view the truth with iman and have a comprehensive view of social matters by using the perspective of the Quran.
